About Lindey

Hi, my name is Lindey and I want to tell you about MY fitness journey! I am 26 years old and have been in the gym for 5 years now! Growing up I struggled to stay under 160 pounds. I tried several diets during my adolescence but was never able to really stick with them as more often than not they were very unhealthy, extreme, and/or unrealistic. In January of 2012 I weighed 220 pounds and I made a New Year’s resolution to “lose weight”. I purchased a gym membership and for about two weeks I would go to the gym and work on the cardio equipment for as long as I could which at the time was only about 5-10 minutes. I didn’t know how to find my way around the gym and was too embarrassed to ask. After a couple of weeks I asked the lady at the front desk of the gym about personal training. The next day I met with a trainer for a free consultation and committed to working with her.

Over the next several months I continued to work with my trainer 5 days a week and I lost 70 pounds. While working towards my goals and taking control of my own life I found my passion.Over the next several years I learned a tremendous amount from my coaches and from my own trial and error. I have lost over 100 pounds of body fat, I have competed AND placed in an NPC bikini competition, I have gained a ton of muscle and strength, and I have found my niche in life. I have spent the last several years learning as much as I could about the human body in relation to nutrition and exercise and it has become my DREAM to share every bit of that knowledge with as many people as I can. There are so many things in life that we do not have control over and one of the things I love most about fitness is the sense of control that it gives us.

I am also a BSW with degrees in psychology and social work. Over the years I have seen fitness save lives, heal injuries, strengthen the weak, I have seen fitness used successfully in drug rehabilitation, and I have seen it used successfully in the treatment of mental and behavioral illness. Over the last five years I have faced many obstacles including time management due to working full-time, being a full-time college student, and completing professional full-time internships, dealing with family crisis’ and traumas, as well as dealing with my own physical injury including surgeries and rehabilitation and I have been able to work through EVERY ONE of those obstacles and still work towards my goals. It has become my passion to teach others how to take care of their own bodies and show them that they too can reach their goals no matter what obstacles they may face.
